Co-star: Farrell injured at wrap party

LONDON, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Val Kilmer, who plays Colin Farrell's father in "Alexander," says the star survived the rigorous filming unscathed only to break a wrist and ankle at the wrap party.

Kilmer told the BBC that Farrell is "very very strong" and thrived on "riding bareback on rough ground, throwing spears, wielding swords and doing some amazing battle scenes."

But Farrell woke up the morning after the party with broken bones and with potato chips in one hand and a bottle of ketchup in the other. He was in a tent outside the hotel.

"This story can only be told now, because the insurance can't catch him," Kilmer said.

The Oliver Stone epic opened Wednesday in London. In the United States, the film was hammered by the critics and did poorly at the box office.

Farrell plays Alexander the Great, Kilmer his father, King Philip of Macedonia, and Angelina Jolie his mother, Olympias.
