Infinity pulls Crazy Cabbie off the air

NEW YORK, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- New York deejay Crazy Cabbie has been pulled from K-ROCK in the wake of federal charges and a "meltdown" on the Howard Stern show, a report said.

Crazy Cabbie, whose real name is Lee Mroszak, pleaded guilty in November to failing to file federal tax returns for 2000 through 2002. When he did later file returns, he understated his actual income by more than $100,000, federal prosecutors told the New York Daily News.

The understatement could jeopardize pleas for leniency when Mroszak, who faces up to a year in prison, is sentenced. However, his Jan. 14 hearing may be postponed.

"The sentencing may be in doubt after Mroszak's mental meltdown on Stern's show two weeks ago, where he ranted about his TV set speaking to him and spoke of fears that he was marked for death by the mob," the newspaper said.

The 35-year-old, who suffers from bipolar disorder and has a history of drug abuse, also told Stern he had suffered a relapse and was in rehabilitation, the Post said.

Infinity Broadcasting officials said Crazy Cabbie had been taken off the air, but declined further comment.
