Catherine Britt to release debut CD

NEWCASTLE, Australia, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Australian singer Catherine Britt has signed with the U.S. record label RCA and is set to release her first album next year.

Britt and Elton John have recorded a duet, "Where We Both Say Goodbye" which will be featured on her first international album, "Too Far Gone," the Daily Telegraph reported Monday.

"Before Keith (Urban) came along and broke in the U.S. -- and it took him 10 years to do it -- the Americans just would not accept Australian artists," she said.

"Now there are all these Australians there and they are very accepting of us and Keith really has opened that door."

Britt, who has been based in Nashville this year recording the album, returned to her Australian home in Newcastle for Christmas.

She will perform at the Golden Guitar Awards in Tamworth, Australia.
