Hawking's wife angered by 'Simpsons' cameo

OXFORD, England, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- The wife of disabled scientist Professor Stephen Hawking has voiced concern about his upcoming second appearance on "The Simpsons."

Elaine Hawking has said she disagrees with the popular prime-time cartoon featuring electro-convulsive shock therapy (ECT) being used to treat schizophrenia, the World Entertainment News Network reported Saturday.

"I'm not altogether happy with it. I just don't think that ECT's the sort of thing that anybody should make fun out of--it's just not right for comedy," she said. "I read the scripts and obviously told Stephen of my concerns, but he thinks it's fine, so I'll have to go along with that."
