Oprah's new body not from plastic surgery

Dec. 20, 2004 at 8:27 PM

CHICAGO, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Oprah Winfrey's best friend and the editor of O magazine, Gayle King, says the talk show host's new svelte body is not a product of plastic surgery.

Winfrey's slimness has convinced many of her fans she's undergone plastic surgery, but King said the body Winfrey shows off on the current cover O magazine was achieved naturally, reported the World Entertainment News Network Monday.

"It never occurred to me that people would not know that this is Oprah," King said. "Those are her actual abs, her waist, those are her legs. People have actually asked me, 'Gayle, tell the truth, she's had surgery, right?' I go, 'Absolutely not!' "

After years of dieting and regaining weight, Winfrey decided when she reached age 50 to take control of her health, according to King.

"She reached a point where her weight was so much that she started having heart palpitations. It really clicked for her when she turned 50," she said. "She turned 50 and she decided, 'I'm gonna be healthy.' "
