VH1 Classic offers acoustic holiday songs

NEW YORK, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- U.S. cable's VH1 Classic has invited Amy Grant, Richard Marx, Brian Setzer, The Smithereens, George Thorogood and John Waite to perform holiday songs.

The cable channel features stars from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s asked the artists to perform acoustic renditions of their favorite holiday songs.

Among the songs included in "VH1 Classic Acoustic Holiday Concert" are: "Santa Claus Is Back In Town" and "Sleigh Ride" performed by the 18-member Brian Setzer Orchestra, "Blue Christmas" performed by The Smithereens, "Merry Christmas Baby" sung by George Thorogood, and "All I Want For Christmas" by John Waite.

In addition Amy Grant performs "Christmas Can't Be Very Far Away," while Richard Marx sings "Santa Claus Is Back In Town."

The program will air Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. and on Christmas at 2 a.m., 6 a.m., 10 a.m., 2 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
