Seven Globe nominations for 'Sideways'

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Golden Globe nominees were announced Monday in Beverly Hills, Calif., with "Sideways" leading the field with seven nods.

Writer-Director Alexander Payne's road-trip comedy was nominated for Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, Payne was nominated for best director and he and writing partner Jim Taylor were nominated for their screenplay. In addition, Paul Giamatti, Thomas Haden Church and Virginia Madsen were nominated for acting awards.

Martin Scorsese's "The Aviator" had six nominations -- including Best Motion Picture Drama, a directing nomination for Scorsese and an acting nomination for Leonardo DiCaprio. "Closer," "Finding Neverland" and "Million Dollar Baby" had five nominations each.

"Deadwood," "24," "Lost," "Nip/Tuck" and "The Sopranos" were nominated for best drama TV series. "Arrested Development," "Desperate Housewives," "Entourage," "Sex and the City" and "Will & Grace" were nominated for best comedy TV series.

Jamie Foxx was nominated for best actor in a musical or comedy movie for "Ray," supporting actor in a movie for "Collateral" and best actor in a TV miniseries of movie for "Redemption."
