LOS ANGELES, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- "Ramones: Raw," the first DVD from the legendary U.S. punk band, has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

It's the second gold award the Ramones have received in North America during their 30-year history. Previously, the group's double LP compilation, "Ramonesmania," was certified gold after its 1988 release.

"This is a great honor coming out of the gate like this with our first DVD," said Marky Ramone. "I love this project and believe that it would've made Joey, Dee Dee and Johnny very, very proud."

"Ramones: Raw" consists of vintage concert footage, shot on film in 1980, archived and nearly forgotten for more than 20 years. It also includes rare TV appearances, backstage footage and more from the group's personal archives.

Celebrity guests included: The Doors' Robby Krieger, Eddie Vedder, Carly Simon, Gilbert Gottfried, Bono and U2.

Topics: Carly Simon, Dee Dee, Eddie Vedder
