COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- The gunman who killed four people at a Columbus, Ohio, nightclub was described Friday as a "disturbed" ex-Marine by people who knew him.
Nathan Gale, 25, of Maryville, charged the bandstand shortly after the group Damageplan had begun playing, police say.
Gale reportedly shot and killed guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, then fired into the crowd of 450, killing three others before a policeman, who had entered the club from the rear, killed him. Two others remained hospitalized.
Brandy Brown, the bartender at a local bar Gale frequented, described him to rollingstone.com as "a hermit kind of guy. I think he lived with his mom."
Lucas Bender, owner of Bear's Den Tattoo Studio, said of Gale: "He kind of gave everyone a weird impression -- you know how some people just seem disturbed?"
Police still had no motive for the sudden attack.
