Bush's hometown wins artist Turner Prize

LONDON, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Britain's top honor for modern art, The Turner Prize, has been awarded to a London artist who videotaped scenes from U.S. President George Bush's hometown.

"Memory Bucket" is a mixed-media installation that documents 38-year-old Jeremy Deller's travels through the state of Texas, Zap2it.com said. It includes various encounters with locals in Crawford, Texas, such as a survivor of the Waco siege, and takes a look around Bush's favorite burger bar.

Along with the $49,000 prize money, Deller was praised by the Turner Prize jury for his "generosity of spirit across a succession of projects, which engage with social and cultural contexts and celebrate the creativity of individuals."
