Lohan rocks out on new album

NEW YORK, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Actress Lindsay Lohan says making her first album, "Speak," was much more personal than playing a character in a film.

"This is me, Lindsay, whereas when I'm doing the movies it's me playing a character," said the 18-year-old star of "The Parent Trap," "Freaky Friday" and "Mean Girls." "So when I'm promoting (Speak'), it's me promoting myself and what I feel and the things I put into my album and my personal feelings towards the album.

"I've been taking singing lessons since I was 2. This is something that I always wanted to do."

Lohan co-wrote five songs on "Speak" but also worked with a team of eight producers and 20 other songwriters. She's promoting the album's Tuesday release with TV appearances and hopes to tour in 2005.

Lohan recently finished filming "Herbie: Fully Loaded," an update of Walt Disney's "The Love Bug."
