LOS ANGELES, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Al Pacino may be getting on board for a remake of the 1957 movie "Witness for the Prosecution," The Hollywood Reporter said Thursday.
The paper said no formal offers have gone out, but Pacino has shown interest in the project. Pacino has played lawyers in such courtroom dramas as " ... And Justice for All" and "The Devil's Advocate."
The original version of "Witness for the Prosecution" -- based on Agatha Christie's play of the sane name -- earned six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, but did not win any Oscars.
Charles Laughton was nominated for Best Actor for his performance as an attorney defending a young man accused of a mysterious murder.
The Reporter said Emmy-winning writer-producer David E. Kelley -- who has written TV courtroom dramas such as "The Practice" and "L.A. Law" -- will adapt Christie's play for the remake.
