NEW YORK, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- The father of teen idol Lindsay Lohan has been arrested in New York for violating a protection order taken out by her mother.
Michael Lohan, 44, is charged with criminal contempt and driving under the influence and is set to appear in court when he's released from a hospital where he was taken after complaining of chest pains at the time of his arrest, E! Online reported Wednesday.
Lohan chased Lindsay when the star showed up to watch her kid brother in a soccer game at Merrick, N.Y., on Long Island. Also at the game was his estranged wife, Dina Lohan, who took out a restraining order against him in October, The New York Daily News reported.
Dina Lohan's brother, Paul Sullivan, says his brother-in-law has threatened to kill his entire family, which led to round-the-clock protection.
Monday's arrest was not Michael Lohan's first scrape with the law.
In the summer he was arrested for beating another brother-in-law with a shoe during a communion party, in April he was picked up for bolting on a $3,800 hotel bill and two months ago he pleaded guilty to assaulting a New York City sanitation worker.
