Sax man liked challenge of duets album

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Saxophonist Kenny G says the most challenging aspect of his new "At Last ... The Duets Album" was arranging the songs.

"A lot of these songs were not made to be duets, so it was challenging to figure out what to play on," says G (real surname Gorelick), who partners on "At Last ..." with Barbra Streisand, LeAnn Rimes, Burt Bacharach, Daryl Hall, Earth, Wind & Fire and fellow saxman David Sanborn.

"I can fill up a lot of holes where there'd be space, maybe notes or counter melodies or themes that can come in and out of the song. As an instrumentalist it works out pretty well, and each of the singers is so good at what they do, it came out great."

G is trying to put together a one-off live performance that will feature as many of the "At Last ..." singers as he can gather for the occasion.
