NEW YORK, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Singer John Legend, who has backed up Alicia Keys, Usher and Kanye West, is set to step into the spotlight with his solo album.
"Get Lifted," in stores Dec. 28, should propel Legend to the forefront after singing backup for years for some of urban music's biggest stars, the Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday.
"He's probably not even ready for how well his CD will do," said radio host Bushman of WJLB-FM, Detroit.
The first single, "Ordinary People," already is getting attention on radio, although the record label hasn't officially released it.
"Our label has not spent a single dime on 'Ordinary People' and it's already ... it's getting a lot of play. ... We've done nothing to encourage people to play 'Ordinary People,' but they're playing the hell out of it," Legend said.
