McCartney to rock next Super Bowl

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Sir Paul McCartney will provide the half-time entertainment at the next Super Bowl football game, the BBC reported Monday.

The last Super Bowl half-time show shocked millions of TV viewers when singer Justin Timberlake pulled Janet Jackson's costume, exposing her breast on live television.

TV network CBS was fined $550,000 by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission after more than 542,000 complaints were made about Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction."

National Football League spokesman Brian McCarthy said that the NFL was "comfortable" that this year's Super Bowl half-time show would be acceptable to a mass audience, the BBC reported.

The next Super Bowl will take place Feb. 6 at ALLTEL Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. McCartney's performance is scheduled to last 12 minutes, CNN reported.

This will be the former Beatle's second Super Bowl performance. He previously performed in 2002, the first Super Bowl after the Sept. 11 attacks.

In a statement, McCartney, 62, said: "There's nothing bigger then being asked to perform at the Super Bowl. We're looking forward to rocking the millions at home and in the stadium."
