Courtney Love pleads innocent to assault

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Actress/rocker Courtney Love has pleaded innocent in Los Angeles to felony assault with a deadly weapon.

The charge stemmed from her alleged April attack on musician Kristin King at the home of her ex-boyfriend and former manager, Jim Barber.

King testified last month she was sleeping on Barber's couch when Love entered, doused her with whiskey, threw the bottle and a candle at her and pinched her left breast, E! Online reported.

King said Love chased her with a large flashlight as she fled the house.

During Wednesday's hearing, Superior Judge Terry Green ordered Love to return Dec. 15. She is free on $150,000 bail.

Love, who still faces trial in Beverly Hills for drug possession, is being sued by a law firm, a travel agency and her Manhattan condo association for unpaid fees. In addition, California claims she owes $38,000 in back taxes.
