'Ray' writer set for Usher project

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Screenwriter James White of the current Jamie Foxx hit "Ray," will write the screenplay for the upcoming Usher movie, Daily Variety said Tuesday.

White told the paper the Usher project will be a departure from what the R&B singer's fans have seen him do in the past.

"It's going to be a really heavy drama that starts with him seeing life through a rose-colored lens and it becomes the wrong man at the wrong place at the wrong time," he said.

Usher's feature credits include "The Faculty" and "She's All That." He has also appeared in the 2000 TV movie "Geppetto," the prime time series "Moesha" and the daytime soap "The Bold and the Beautiful."
