LOS ANGELES, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Jimmy Smits reportedly is disappointed with how ABC and NBC handled his appearances on "NYPD Blue" and "West Wing," saying the networks overstated his roles.
TV ads promoting Tuesday's "NYPD Blues" episode show the late Bobby Simone, played by Smits, returning from the grave to counsel his former partner. Wednesday's "West Wing" ads prominently feature Smits in his new role as a Republican politician on the series, incorrectly indicating Smits carries a large role on the respective episodes, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.
"I have issues with both networks and the way they handled it. Apparently, the promotional departments don't interface with the show's producer," Smits said.
Smits actually only appears in one scene on "NYPD Blue.
"I didn't ever want to make it seem like it was a whole episode with (Bobby), and I think that's what the promo does," he said.
Likewise, Smits' character slowly become becomes involved with the "West Wing" cast and story.
