R Kelly wins skirmish in kid porn case

CHICAGO, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- A Chicago judge has granted a request for a hearing to determine the age of a girl who appears on a sex tape with R&B singer R. Kelly.

Kelly faces a long list of child pornography charges. Prosecutors say that the girl on the tape was only 14, but defense lawyer Ed Genson appears prepared to argue she was legally an adult, MTV.com reported Friday.

Genson wants the judge to bar prosecutors from using expert testimony from Dr. Sharon Cooper, a developmental pediatrician from the University of North Carolina, who determined the girl's age based on the development of secondary sexual characteristics.

Last week, Kelly stormed off the stage in New York, bringing his Best of Both Worlds tour with rapper Jay-Z to a premature end, and later filed a lawsuit against Jay-Z.
