'Grudge' sequel in the works

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Plans are under way in Hollywood for a sequel to the supernatural thriller "The Grudge," The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

The supernatural thriller starring Sarah Michelle Gellar opened with $39 million two weeks ago and has taken in $75 million in its first two weeks in U.S. theaters.

The paper said Senator International and Ghost House Pictures have signed "The Grudge" screenwriter Stephen Susco to write "The Grudge 2."

Sam Raimi, Rob Tappert, Roy Lee and Doug Davidson -- producers on "The Grudge" -- will return as producers on the sequel, but there is no word on whether Gellar or director Takashi Shimizu will be involved.
