LOS ANGELES, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Ken Jennings is the world's top game show winner after his latest "Jeopardy!" win brought the Utah software engineer's earnings to $2,197,000.
Jennings, who won $45,099 in Wednesday's "Jeopardy!" episode, claimed the title when his total winnings surpassed the previous record of $2,180,000 set in 2001 by Kevin Olmstead from "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire," said a release at the "Jeopardy!" Web site.
Jennings won Wednesday's episode by supplying the correct question to the answer "This king was the great-grandfather of France's King Louis XV."
Jennings answered "Who is Louis XIV?"
"I wouldn't be coming back just for the money. I think the reason I'm still on 'Jeopardy!' is because I'm having a good time. It's fun to compete and see exactly how good you are and what your limits are," the 30-year-old champ said about his record-breaking experience.
Jennings has defeated 130 contestants since his June 2 debut on the game show.
