Arrest made in Siegfried and Roy shooting

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Former Oakland Raiders kicker Cole Ford was arrested in Las Vegas for allegedly shooting at the home of magicians Siegfried and Roy in September.

Ford was taken into custody Tuesday after a Kinko's employee recognized the 31-year-old ex-football player using a computer as the person wanted in the Sept. 21 drive-by shooting at the magicians' Jungle Palace estate, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Wednesday.

Ford, who had eluded police for 41 days, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at an occupied structure and shooting from a moving vehicle -- all felony firearms charges. He was held at the Clark County Detention Center.

No one was injured in the Sept. 21 shotgun attack, where the driver of the van was heard yelling, "We need to get ... Siegfried and Roy out of our country," before opening fire.

Shotgun blasts broke windows and left a foot-wide hole in the house.

Relatives in Tucson, Ariz., said Ford has been reclusive and displaying schizophrenic behavior since his 1997 release from the Raiders.
