NEW YORK, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Filming for "The Producers" has been delayed due to actor Nathan Lane replacing Richard Dreyfuss in the London production of the Tony Award-winning musical.

Lane took over the role of Max Bialystock when Dreyfess pulled out of the West End show for medical reasons, a move that put the film version of the Broadway show on hold, World Entertainment News Network reported Monday.

Although the movie crew is set to open production offices at Brooklyn, N.Y.,'s Steiner Studios, no filming will occur until Lane returns to the United States. Lane reportedly will fill in for Dreyfuss until mid-January.

Lane, Matthew Broderick, Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman are set to star in the big screen version of the musical comedy.
