Jay-Z did not witness R.Kelly incident

NEW YORK, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Jay-Z reportedly did not witness the incident in New York when tour mate R. Kelly was doused with pepper spray by a member of Jay-Z's entourage.

"Jay was on stage, so he doesn't even know what happened," spokeswoman Jana Fleishman told Monday's New York Daily News about Friday's altercation at Madison Square Garden.

Kelly reportedly abruptly left the stage of the "Best of the Both Worlds" tour, claiming he had seen two audience members waving guns. When he decided to return to the stage, a Jay-Z groupie allegedly sprayed the entertainer and two security guards with pepper spray, sending the three men to the hospital.

The incident is the latest in a string of troubles for the entertainers, with Friday's incident at Madison Square Garden reportedly shutting down the 40-city joint tour because Jay-Z refuses to perform with Kelly, the Daily News said.

Jay-Z performed at Saturday's scheduled date to a packed house, with surprise guests Mariah Carey, Foxy Brown and Sean "P. Diddy" Combs.
