'Blob' headed for remake

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Plans are under way in Hollywood for a second remake of the 1958 horror movie "The Blob," Daily Variety reported Friday.

The paper said Paramount Pictures and producer Scott Rudin ("Team America: World Police," "I Heart Huckabees") are planning an updated take on the movie -- which made a star of Steve McQueen and became a campy cult classic.

"The Blob" was already remade once, in 1988, with a screenplay by Frank Darabont -- who went on to write and direct "The Shawshank Redemption."
