Freddie Prinze Jr. headed for TV series

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Freddie Prinze Jr. will star in a TV comedy produced by "George Lopez" and "Drew Carey Show" veteran Bruce Helford, Daily Variety said Wednesday.

The paper said ABC has ordered a pilot for the show, which is also being produced by Bruce Rasmussen, who previously worked on "Roseanne" and "The Drew Carey Show."

The series will feature Prinze as a man who breaks away from a household full of women - and then inherits a similar situation after his brother dies.

Prinze's father -- "Chico and the Man" star Freddie Prinze -- committed suicide in 1977, when Prinze was less than a year old. He said the time is right to follow in his dad's footsteps into TV comedy.

"When I moved out here to L.A., I had it in my head, whether rightly or wrongly, that I had a responsibility to clean things up," he said.
