More scary movies after 'The Grudge'

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- The box-office success of "The Grudge" has opened the doors for several new horror movies, Daily Variety said Tuesday.

With the Sarah Michelle Gellar movie grossing $40 million to open at No. 1, Ghost House -- a partnership that includes horror veteran Sam Raimi -- is set to move forward with "Dibbuk Box" and "30 Days of Night."

Stephen Susco, who wrote the screenplay for "The Grudge," will write "Dibbuk Box" -- based on a Los Angeles Times writer's story about an antique wooden box, purchased on eBay, that contains an evil spirit.

"Collateral" writer Stuart Beattie is adapting the Steve Niles comic book "30 Days of Night" for the big screen.

Raimi is currently working on "Spider-Man 3," due in theaters in 2007.
