LOS ANGELES, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Madonna heads the cast of an animated movie based on the "Arthur" children's books and now in production in France.

The Hollywood Reporter, citing sources, says the former Material Girl will provide the voice of Princess Selenia, who guides Arthur to a forbidden kingdom as he struggles to save his grandfather's house from developers.

The movie is being directed by Luc Besson, who also wrote the screenplay and the series of children's books that serves as its source.

Besson Europa Corp., which is shooting the English-language movie at its studios outside Paris, has not completed casting. The movie reportedly includes some live action.
