Band Aid Christmas classic remake set

LONDON, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Coldplay and Robbie Williams reportedly are among the artists invited to record a 21st century remake of the Band Aid classic "Do They Know It's Christmas?"

Midge Ure, who planned the original 1984 recording with Band Aid organizer Bob Geldolf, said a 20-year anniversary version of the hit single is in the works, NME.com reported Wednesday.

"It's definitely going to happen. I'm very excited. The line-up proves that this country is brimming with talent and the big names approached seem very keen," Ure said.

Artist participation has not been finalized, but Jamelia, The Darkness, Travis, Dido and Noel Gallagher reportedly have also been asked to join in the anniversary recording.

The original raised $14 million for Ethiopian famine relief and inspired the July 1985 Live Aid benefit concert.

A 1989 re-recorded version also reached No. 1 on the charts.

The new single reportedly will feature both the new and original versions, NME.com said.
