Bernie Mac show taking a break

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- FOX TV is delaying the fall return of "The Bernie Mac Show" by at least a week and likely more, Zap2it.com reported Monday.

The show had been set to return from a baseball-related break Wednesday, Nov. 3, but Fox said production on "Mac" was being postponed while the star "recuperates from illness."

Industry publications report the actor's busy summer production schedule precipitated the fall break. In addition to finishing up "Mr. 3000" and promoting that film, Mac was simultaneously shooting "Ocean's 12" and "Guess Who" with Ashton Kutcher.

The four episodes of "Bernie Mac" that aired during September were produced before the summer. Through the first month of the season, the show has averaged only 5.55 million viewers per episode.
