Jerry Hall quits London musical

LONDON, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Jerry Hall, citing illness, left her role as Calamity Jane in a London production of "My Darlin' Janey" less than two weeks before the show's opening.

Hall told producers Wednesday she has infectious mononucleosis, preventing her from starring in the musical set to open Oct. 26, Sky News reported Thursday.

"Jerry is very, very disappointed at pulling out of the show because it was such a great story," said Hall's spokeswoman, who added the actress has not ruled out returning to the show in the future.

The production's four-week run has been canceled.

Hall's departure is the latest in a string of problems for the show.

Earlier this month, director Angela Richards quit, reportedly because of artistic differences and Hall had not attended rehearsals since late September.

Hall met new director Lucy Skillbeck for the first time Wednesday, just before the Texas model walked out.
