Lindsay Lohan's dad defends himself

Oct. 8, 2004 at 4:07 PM

NEW YORK, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- The father of teen actress Lindsay Lohan told the New York Post that people around his daughter are plotting to make him look bad.

"Her friends are parasites and I said so, so they scorn me. They're trying to put a wedge between me and my daughter," Michael Lohan told Page Six Friday.

Lohan, who was sentenced to enter drug and alcohol treatment within the next three weeks for a summer altercation with his brother-in-law, blames some of his bad press on the "Freaky Friday" star's publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnick.

"Leslie Sloane is a phony. We don't like each other one bit," he said.

Two weeks ago, Michael Lohan filed a complaint of reckless endangerment against his wife for allegedly driving while under the influence. The case is under investigation, a Nassau, Long Island, N.Y., detective said.
