LOS ANGELES, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Canadian singer Avril Lavigne reportedly dyed her hair blonde to get a shot at playing troubled rocker Courtney Love in a film.
"Courtney is really nice and a great mom. It would be an honor to play her. I've been looking for a feisty role that suits my personality and I think this is the one," said the formerly brunette singer, Teenhollywood.com reported Friday.

The film will follow Love's life from her childhood to her marriage to the late Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain, including her well-publicized bouts with drinking and drugs.
Love reportedly endorsed Lavigne for the role.
"Avril rocks and is pretty enough to play me,!" Love said.
