LONDON, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Hollywood's Richard Dreyfuss, currently rehearsing in London for a stage role, reportedly is leaving the film business to concentrate on his theater career.
"I want to do something else. I'll only live once and I'm 10 years out of the hospital or retirement home. I'm not seeking to do any more movies, and they're not seeking me. I'm quite happy with that situation," said the 56-year-old actor, World Entertainment News Network reported Tuesday.
"I love theatre. There's a point at which you can walk across the stage and feel the audience. When you make them laugh, you go to heaven. It's a gift," Dreyfuss said.
Dreyfuss is set to star in the West End production of "The Producers" with comedian Lee Evans.
The Oscar-winning actor has starred in 40 films, including "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind," "Mr. Holland's Opus" and "The Goodbye Girl," for which he won an Academy Award in 1978.
