Bob Dylan's autobiography has few secrets

NEW YORK, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Singer/songwriter Bob Dylan's autobiography shares few secrets and leaves many stories untold as it rambles in a non-chronological, storytelling style.

"Chronicles, Vol. 1," released Tuesday, primarily recounts Dylan's early years in Greenwich Village and the fear and burden he felt from his fame, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

The Hibbing, Minn., native gives the definitive account of how Robert Allen Zimmerman became known as Bob Dylan -- poet Dylan Thomas played a role -- but discusses in one line only his 1966 motorcycle crash.

In 293 pages, Dylan tells of musical heroes, but never calls his wives by name and goes into detail about a 1989 album, "Oh Mercy," that gained little critical attention.

"Chronicles, Vol. 2," reportedly is in the works to tell the rest of the story.
