Bill Cosby returning to series TV?

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Bill Cosby could be returning to prime time network series TV, Daily Variety said Wednesday.

The paper said Cosby is collaborating with "Reba" writer Chris Case for a half-hour comedy based on his recent best-selling book, "Congratulations! Now What?: A Book for Graduates."

Cosby will executive produce with Case, Susanne Daniels and Sheila Ducksworth. Current plans do not call for him to star in the project.

The book features the comedian's well-publicized advice to college graduates about to leave campus life for the working world.

Cosby has been a favorite commencement speaker for years. He encountered some controversy earlier this year over remarks he made at an NAACP forum on the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's 1954 ruling that ended legal school segregation -- when he chided neglectful parents, illiterate children and criminals who "are not holding up their end of this deal."

Variety said the TV series will focus on a new college grad who moves back in with his parents, exploring the father-son relationship and the father's attempts to nudge his son out of the house.
