SEATTLE, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Jimi Hendrix's brother has lost his Seattle court bid to inherit part of the guitar icon's estate, with a stepsister getting the bulk of the $80 million.
A King County, Wash., Superior Court judge ruled Friday against Leon Hendrix, who sued Janie Hendrix after being omitted from any portion of his famous sibling's estate when patriarch Al Hendrix died two years ago, the Seattle Times reported.
The victory wasn't entirely one-sided. Janie Hendrix, whom Al Hendrix adopted when he married her mother, and whom Al Hendrix named to control the business, was removed as a trustee because of irresponsible financial responsibility, Judge Jeffrey Ramsdell said.
Leon and 11 other named beneficiaries in Al Hendrix's will sued Janie, claiming the woman with no biological ties to the famous guitarist schemed with Al Hendrix to have Leon omitted from the will, as well as misused estate funds on luxury cars and $700,000 bonuses for herself.
Janie's attorneys countered Leon didn't deserve to inherit any money because of his history of drugs, drinking and extortion.
