NEW YORK, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- SpongeBob, Squidward and the rest of the Bikini Bottom crew are set to return to cable network Nickelodeon with 20 new episodes of "SpongeBob SquarePants."
The episodes, the first new ones in two years, could begin airing as early as January, the New York Post reported Thursday.

Series creator Stephen Hillenburg will remain at the helm as executive producer with all of the original voice cast returning, including Tom Kenny, who voices SpongeBob, and Bill Fagerbakke, aka Patrick.
"SpongeBob SquarePants," which debuted in 1999, is the No. 1 kids show on U.S. TV.
"The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie" is set to open Nov. 19 in theaters.
