Lisa Kudrow may star in HBO comedy

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- "Friends" star Lisa Kudrow may return to TV in "Comeback," an HBO comedy about a sitcom star who is trying to revive her career.

HBO has approved a pilot for the project co-written by Kudrow and Michael Patrick King, the former executive producer of HBO's hit "Sex and the City," The Hollywood Reporter said Monday.

Before "Sex and the City," King was involved with "Cybill" and "Murphy Brown," both on CBS. Sources told the Reporter that "Sex and the City's" John Melfi is also closely involved.

Kudrow, who spent the last 10 years playing Phoebe on NBC's "Friends," has been active behind the camera as a producer via her Warner Bros. company "Is or Isn't Entertainment" with partner Dan Bucatinsky.

The company has produced two pilots, a comedy for CBS and drama for UPN.
