LOS ANGELES, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- "The View" TV co-host Star Jones has been tapped to replace Joan Rivers as the host of E! entertainment network's red carpet coverage at the Emmy Awards.

Jones will take over the new hosting responsibilities from Rivers and her daughter Melissa Sunday when the Emmys ceremony is held in Los Angeles, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

"I've got to be honest -- this is like a dream come true for me. It's a mixture of entertainment TV and fashion," Jones said.

The Rivers duo, who also did red carpet duty for the Oscars for E!, left the network for TV Guide Channel last July.

Jones said she will not attempt to duplicate Rivers, who could be acerbic in her assessment of the stars' fashions.

"Joan is brilliant being Joan and the biggest mistake would be for me to duplicate an original. I don't think you should be snarky or insulting. I just want (the stars) to enjoy their night. It's about them, not me," Jones said.
