Madonna treks to Israel for Kaballah event

TEL AVIV, Israel, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Madonna is participating in Israel's international congress of the Kabbalah Center by speaking about kids' spirituality and visiting holy sites.

Madonna's visit has been on-again, off-again in recent weeks, but the singer arrived in Tel Aviv Wednesday for five days at the spiritual retreat, the Jerusalem Post reported.

The entertainer, who traveled to Israel with her family, was scheduled to visit Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem Wednesday and speak at Saturday's Spirituality for Kids lecture in Tel Aviv.

Madonna, a student at the Kabbalah Center in Los Angeles for the past six years, reportedly now also answers to the Jewish name Esther, eats mostly kosher foods and won't perform on Fridays.

More than 2,000 people from 22 countries are expected to attend the retreat, coinciding with the Jewish high holiday Rosh Hashana, including celebrities Demi Moore, Donald Trump's ex-wife Marla Trump and fashion designer Donna Karan.
