LOS ANGELES, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Phil Spector's legal team has secured a new preliminary hearing date for the music producer who is charged with murdering a Los Angeles actress.
Bruce Cutler was granted his request Tuesday for more preparatory time before the hearing, a move praised by Spector, who has hired and fired a bevy of Los Angeles attorneys in a bid to have the 2003 murder charge dismissed, E! Online reported Wednesday.
Said Spector: "I think Bruce Cutler is a genius. There was no crime committed, and I'm sure he'll bring forth evidence that the district attorney has been hiding."
The legendary music producer, free on $1 million bond, is accused of killing Lana Clarkson, although Spector maintains the actress killed herself at his Alhambra, Calif., estate.
