LONDON, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- The number of women playing video games is increasing, with "Final Fantasy" and "Legend of Zelda" topping the list of favorites, a study says.
In Britain, the percentage of women playing video games is 25 percent of all gamers, with that number increasing to 39 percent in the United States and 69 percent in Korea, BBC reported Thursday.
Britain's typical female gamer is 30- to 35-years-old, plays around seven hours a week and spends approximately $300 annually on games, said researcher Aleks Krotoski who conducted a study for Elspa, the British games trade body.
When women play video games, they choose games with in-depth storylines and characters, as well as games that are easy to learn.
We want to know we can master it, that it is not a waste of time," Krotoski said.
In addition to "Final Fantasy" and "Zelda," women prefer "Tetris," "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" and "The Sims."
