Actress Minnie Driver releases album

BOSTON, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Actress Minnie Driver, who as a teen wanted to be a singer, is set to release her debut album "Everything I've Got In My Pocket" on U.S. label Rounder Records.

Driver, who starred in Hollywood films "All of Me" and "Beautiful," will fulfill her initial career goal with the Oct. 5 release of her first music project, said a press release from Rounder Records.

Driver began singing in jazz clubs as a teen in her native London and eventually joined a band that landed a deal with Island Records.

The singer/songwriter was in the midst of signing a solo music deal with EMI when she got a part in "Circle Of Friends" in 1995, a role that changed her career.

Almost a decade later, Driver returns to making that first album, using members of the Wallflowers and Peter Yorn's band as backup musicians.

The album features 10 original songs and a remake of Bruce Springsteen's "Hungry Heart."
