Alan Jackson leads country music nominees

NASHVILLE, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Alan Jackson led the list of nominees Monday for country music's CMA Awards, earning nods in seven categories, including entertainer of the year.

CMA Awards nominations were announced in a first-ever live broadcast, with CBS and cable's CMT simultaneously airing the Country Music Association's announcement from Nashville and New York.

Jackson, the CMA's reigning entertainer and male vocalist of the year, was nominated for best single and best song for "Remember When," as well as a musical event nomination for "Hey Good Lookin'," a duet with Jimmy Buffett from Buffett's "License to Chill" album.

Jackson also scored two top video nominations.

Toby Keith earned six nominations, including best entertainer, best male vocalist and best album for "Shock 'N Y'all."

Kenny Chesney and Alison Krauss were nominated in five categories each.

Brooks & Dunn, Chesney and Tim McGraw shared entertainer fo the year nominations with Jackson and Keith.

Brooks & Dunn's Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks will host this year's Nov. 8 telecast, replacing Vince Gill after 12 consecutive years.
