WASHINGTON, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Actor Danny Glover was arrested and led away in handcuffs from Sudan's Washington embassy during a protest against violence in the African nation.

The U.S. Secret Service charged the actor with disorderly conduct and unlawful assembly for Wednesday's protest, a Secret Service spokesman told "Entertainment Tonight."

"We want an end to the hostility," Glover said outside the Sudanese embassy.

Glover, star of the "Lethal Weapon" films, has been active in ongoing efforts to stop the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
