NEW YORK, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- U.S. TV host Regis Philbin has earned a place in the "Guinness Book of World of Records" for logging 15,188 hours in front of the camera.
Philbin was recognized for his "most hours on camera" feat Friday during the live broadcast of ABC's "Live with Regis & Kelly," the New York Daily News reported.
Philbin's record, previously held by TV newsman Hugh Downs who had 10,511 hours in 1997, is the equivalent of working 90 weeks nonstop.
"It becomes one big blur, to tell you the truth," Regis said of his years in TV.
The popular TV host began his career in 1958 in San Diego. Through the years he has worked in news, was a sidekick on "The Joey Bishop Show," hosted "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" and, of course, co-hosted on his long-running "Live" stint.
"You just work your tail off all your life. And you're a record holder!" Philbin said.
