Freddie Prinze Jr. cast in 'Boston Legal'

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- "Scooby Doo" actor Freddie Prinze Jr. reportedly has been cast in "Boston Legal," ABC's spinoff of "The Practice," as William Shatner's TV son.

Prinze will appear on at least two episodes of the new legal drama as Donny Crane, son of Shatner's character, quirky lawyer Denny Crane, Zap2it.com reported Thursday.

Prinze's character operates a low profile suburban legal practice, but inherited his father's unconventional courtroom brilliance, Zap2it.com said.

"Boston Legal" premieres Oct. 3.
