WASHINGTON, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- The U.S. Federal Communications Commission has cleared TV series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Will & Grace" of indecency charges.
The FCC dismissed indecency complaints, in a unanimous decision Monday, filed against episodes airing several years ago, ruling "there is no evidence that the activity depicted was dwelled upon, or was used to pander, titillate or shock the audience," the New York Daily News said Wednesday.
The Parents Television Council filed the complaint against a scene in "Buffy" in which Spike, played by James Marsters, and Buffy, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, fight with one another and then end up having what appeared to be sex against a wall.
The series aired on WB and then UPN before being canceled last season.
Americans for Decency filed the complaint against NBC's "Will & Grace." In that episode, Grace, played by Debra Messing, kissed a female photographer, played by Glenn Close, who rubbed against the title character.
The main complaint, particularly for the "Buffy" episode, was that it aired during prime time, when many children watch, said a PTC spokeswoman.
